North Carolina Central University Licensure Areas Offered:
Program Highlights: The mission of the School of Education is to prepare teacher candidates academically and professionally to socially advance the general welfare of the people of North Carolina. The School of Education's conceptual framework, "Preparing Educators for Diverse Cultural Contexts," under girds the school's curriculum and represents the faculty's commitment to preparing teachers to teach children and youth from all racial, cultural, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds. The mission of the university is to prepare students academically and professionally to become leaders prepared to advance the consciousness of social responsibility in a diverse, global society. The university will serve its traditional clientele of African American students; it will also expand its commitment to meet the educational needs of a student body that is diverse in race and other socioeconomic attributes. North Carolina Central University is situated in Durham, in North Carolina's eastern Piedmont to the northeast of the state's geographical center. Durham is part of North Carolina's celebrated Research Triangle, with the developed areas of the Research Triangle Park located in Durham County. Durham is on two Interstate highways, I-40 and I-85, and is served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport. A wide variety of cultural and educational resources are accessible to NCCU students. Following acceptance of your application materials you will then interview with NCCU faculty and staff.
