Advisory Committee

NC TEACH established an advisory committee in 2004 to provide advice and support related to the ongoing development of the NC TEACH program, based within the University of North Carolina.  The membership of the NC TEACH Advisory Committee represents a group of diverse stakeholders from the NC TEACH community and other agencies working collaboratively to address the teacher shortage in North Carolina.  Members include deans, program host university coordinators, superintendents, public school administrators, lateral entry teachers, LEA human resource managers, community leaders and representatives from other agencies.  The Advisory Committee is the primary group that participates in NC TEACH’s strategic planning and makes recommendations to the Executive Director, with respect to the evolution of the program.

The Advisory Committee:

  • provides direction, advice, and input to the Executive Director on planning, implementation, and operational aspects of the program;
  • assists in the development of a set of operational guidelines that will ensure that the integrity and quality of the program is maintained;
  • assists in revising and expanding the current program model and create ways for the program to interact with and support the UNC campuses and the greater community in order to expand efforts in addressing the teacher shortage (recruitment and retention) in North Carolina
  • ensures that the overall planning and implementation of the program is consistent with the expectations of the Division of University-Schools Programs, the UNC Center for School Leadership Development, and the Schools and Colleges of Education of the University of North Carolina;
  • advises on the coordination of the activities of the program within the context of the University and the greater community;
  • serves as ambassadors for and provide information regarding the program's goals and objectives.
